Focus on Youth
The Ark Angels ministry is to serve people of all ages. We feel that there is potential for this ministry to serve one group particular well ... the youth of our community. By getting young people involved in this ministry and program they will be afforded the opportunity to care for animals and the environment in need of their help. If they progress and show respect for themselves, others and the animals they can then learn the responsiblility, character and relational skills needed to train and handle the animals.
It is felt that if people treat animals with respect that they will have a great chance of treat others and themselves with respect. As Mohandas Gandhi said "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way in which its animals are treated." and "I hold that the more helpless a creature, the more entitled it is to protection by man from the cruelty of man."
Our children and our enivironment are two great resources endowed to us by our creator which the world is unfortunately squandering away. Through this ministry we hope that we can start to make an impact for good on both of these great gifts. Will you help us in this effort?
Focus on Our Community
Our community continues to spread and consume some of its greatest resources and beautiful pieces of land. We continue to build and develop areas that if left in their natural state could, and we feel should, be left so everyone can enjoy these natural treasures. It is our hope through Ark Angels to preserve some of these areas to allow people to explore and learn about nature. These areas would be open to the community to walk and escape for a while from the fast pace of life. In preserving these areas as natural parks or preserves with a nature center, they would become "living labs" for local schools to visit and suppliment their school curriculums allowing hands on learning.
For many of us, some of these natual treasures are in our own backyards. As we contine to develop and build the land we face the issues of confrontation with various animals. It is again, through Ark Angels that we look to educate and be a resource for the community to learn how to live together with the many different animals in Western New York. Perhaps then we can learn to live in harmony with our environment and with each other fulfilling our place in the world as caretakers of all creation.
